World Class Snowparks
Park Rats are also well looked after, with 9 snowparks filled with rails, kickers, grinders, half-pipes, quarter-pipes and moguls of all sizes and difficulty levels. Avoriaz even has specially designed airbag practice zones for those wanting to perfect their latest tricks or attack their first big air.
Beyond the Slopes
Beyond the mountains, Penthouse Caribou is within easy reach of a biathlon zone with shooting range, ice diving, airboarding, ice skating and paragliding. If you are looking for something more relaxing, try the hot springs and spa or go snow-shoeing, ice fishing or cheese-making! Don’t forget the range of alpine restaurants, local brewery at le Fer Rouge and regional wine tasting within La Chapelle d’Abondance.
The Crêt Béni Ski Area
Just across from Penthouse Caribou is the superb Crêt Béni ski area, with a series of fantastic intermediate runs, a range of nursery slopes perfect for beginners, ESF Ski School, designated sledging zones and toboggan runs and the chance to ski a torchlight descent from the crest of the mountain. Watch from the comfort of the Penthouse Caribou balcony or head over and get involved. La Chapelle d’Abondance also offers sleigh rides and husky dog-sledding down the Val d’Abondance and is linked directly to Torgon.
Infinite Off-piste Possibilities
Backcountry skiing opportunities are endless and vast expanses of untouched virgin powder are within your grasp. We always recommend hiring a guide for ski touring (ski de randonnée); you’ll not only benefit from their unrivalled mountain knowledge but are sure to discover the best snow every day. Whether you like to blitz a line through the trees or carve pristine serpentine tracks down the mountain, with an average of 8m snowfall every year, Penthouse Caribou is perfect for your off-piste adventures.
More than 40km of Nordic Ski Trails
Penthouse Caribou is also ideally situated for the Nordic ski trails which follow the River Dranse through the valley. The Grand Circuit passes beneath the chalet terrace and more than 40km of trails between 900m and 1500m suit the classic technique as well as skating and cater for all levels. Equipment hire is available on demand.
